Join us for our Monthly Poetry series, an afternoon of poetic readings. Featured poets will each read for 20 minutes, followed by a short break to sign books, then an open mic. Please sign up by 2:30 pm, and limit your reading to one poem, one page. Hope to see you there!Maura High's poems are located, for the most part, in North Carolina, where she now lives, and in her native Wales. Her first full-length book, Field as Auditorium (Redhawk, 2025), is a compilation of poems inspired by local landscapes and histories, many of them centering on the field of the title, near her home in Orange County. Maura has won the William Matthews Poetry Prize, the Terrain Annual Poetry Prize, awards from the NC Poetry Society, and "Best of Web" and Pushcart nominations. The Garden of Persuasions was awarded the Jacar Press Chapbook Contest Prize. Other chapbooks include the The Field Index (an edition illustrated by printmaker Jean LeCluyse of the poem that won the Terrain Prize), and Stone, Water, Time, with illustrations by the fabric artist Lyric Kinard. Her poems have appeared in numerous print and online magazines. For more information about her work as editor and translator, her Welsh background, awards, and interests, see maurahigh.com.
