You are invited to take part in our regular flying-fox count at the Adelaide colony in Botanic Park. These regular counts are undertaken as the flying-fox population is fluid and the numbers of bats in the colony rise and fall at different times of the year. We can also monitor the direction that the majority bats fly in, which is linked to the availability of food (mostly nectar & pollen from native flowering trees) at the time.
If you would like to join us, we meet on the bridge just past the entrance to the zoo on Plane Tree Drive.
Please bring pen and paper if you don't have a clicker counter. There is a counter app. that you can download on your phone.
Please keep an eye on this page as the count will be cancelled in the event of rain.
