About this Event
Afghan artists and Good Chance Theatre, creators of The Jungle and The Walk with Little Amal, are inviting people across London and beyond to take to Parliament Hill and fly kites! Join us for this free festival of Afghan kite-flying, storytelling, music, poetry and dance.
People from every community are welcome to come along and learn how to make an Afghan kite and fly it together on 20th August 2022, marking one year since the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban.
In this epic aerial act of welcome, people everywhere will celebrate Afghan culture through the simple joy of kite flying, and together call for equal and fair treatment of all people seeking safety, including those from Afghanistan.
There will be a chance to take part in a kite-making workshop, to fly kites together on Parliament Hill, to share a picnic and to experience music and other art from incredible Afghan artists.
Help us make the skies alive with colour, and take part in a joyful festival of creativity and connection.
Free and open to all!
