Are you ready?

Come explore the fun world of abstract and fluid art with me. At my exclusive retreat we will learn, laugh and craft together. My team and I will wine and dine you... Treat you like the royalty you are. Most importantly we will love on you and together we will create memories of a lifetime. Escape from this crazy world to an exclusive artist getaway. The official theme of the weekend is: RETREAT YOUR WAY! You can stay on campus or at a hotel of your choice... We will provide ways to pamper you throughout the weekend... Ultimately you decide which activities you want to participate in to make the experience you want.

Classes to be taught at the retreat:

• Choo Choo! Everything Blooms! With nearly 5 years of blooming under my belt I will give foundational bloom information, my tried and true recipes, secret tips, and my practical, no nonsense color theory methods. You will learn how to blow with your mouth and hairdryer. Once we navigate through the basics we will play with advanced techniques like deconstructing the bloom and bloom transfers.
• *Making your Straight Pours & Cloud Pours Stand Out: We take a relatively simple technique to the next level! I spent neary a year exclusively perfecting my straight pours, ring pours, and cloud pours. We will dive into paint consistency and making your pours stand out from others!
• Take it up a Notch - Hybrid Class: We are going combining techniques! We are taking everything we have learned in the previous classes to create stunning masterpieces.
• Casper the Friendly Ghostly Marble Pour: Together we will master this classy style of pouring! This technique requires the right products, consistency, patience and is not really forgiving. Lucky for you I've done most of the experimenting and documentation for you to learn, explore and enjoy.

With any additional time and one-on-one slots we can explore other techniques together. I have strategically placed our classes so that they build on each other. All classes are interactive where I instruct and demostrate... You paint and we explore questions together.

Thursday 6:30pm - 9:00pm (Don't be tardy to the party)

Official FAAR Kickoff : Meet and Greet unWINE Mixer

Come in comfy clothes to relax and unwine... We kick off the surprises early! We will pamper you a bit (more details in welcome email). Nibbles and unlimited wine and drinks (you must drink responsibly) will be available. Get to know other artists from around the world! This time will be filled with a few activities and opportunity for Garrick to talk with artists individually about their goals, learning desires for the weekend (optional).

Friday starts 9:00am

Instructional Painting Session -9:45am - 1:00pm

About Garrick:

Garrick is a mixed media artist with a specialty in fluid acrylic pouring. Garrick has been exposed to the arts, music and creative spaces all of his life. He is an accomplished musician and artist. Garrick most notably competed and WON a national television show on the Discovery+/ HGTV network "Meet Your Makers Showdown" and has been featured in three local art galleries. He has taught many art classes throughout the United States. Garrick's work can be found in several restaurants in North Carolina as well as the personal walls of many around the globe.

Garrick Brown is a native of North Carolina and proud graduate of North Carolina Central University. He currently resides in Durham, NC affectionately known as the "Bull City". Garrick is a minister of music at his local church and a life member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Fraternity of America, Inc. Outside of the arts Garrick also enjoys gardening, reading and traveling.
