Join us this Tuesday for a FlowShop workshop! This week we'll feature Intro to Isolations for Poi workshop taught by local flow artist, Lilac.
*The workshop will run from 6:45 - 8:00pm - Open jam from 8:00 until 8:50!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**Intro to Isolations:
This workshop provides a clear, progressive pathway for developing split-time, same-direction isolations in the wall plane. We begin with the foundation: a single-poi linear isolation. From there, we expand into a lockout with two poi, introducing the essential coordination between hand movement and poi movement. Once this timing is established, we transition into a centered chest isolation before exploring how the concept extends across both horizontal and vertical axes. We’ll conclude by introducing body isolations, including a behind-the-back head trace.
About Lilac: Lilac began her poi journey two years ago while participating in local Burning Man events as a musician and sound technician. Drawn to the fusion of sensual dance and prop manipulation, she quickly evolved into an insured fire dancer and burlesque performer. Since then, she has captivated audiences across the Pacific Northwest with her fluid movement, playful stage presence, and striking artistry. Grounded in discipline, safety, and community, Lilac brings intention and joy to every performance.
Cost is on a sliding scale/pay-what-you-can basis, $10-35 suggested.
We will have plenty of extra poi to share!
