Come see Flotsam River Circus in Sylvan Beach on Friday, August 22nd! Flotsam is a troupe of musicians, circus artists, and puppeteers traveling on a handmade raft, giving free performances in waterfront towns along the way.
We will most likely performing along the Canal Wall in front of the park near the Canal View Cafe - but it is possible we will be located at the beach. It will depend a bit on how shallow the water is and whether other boats are in the way. Both locations are within walking distance and we will update this page - just look for the most unusual 'boat' on the river — that's us!
Our show is family-friendly but intended for audiences of all ages. The performance starts at 6:30 pm and will be finished before 8:00. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and come early for a good spot!
The show is free to attend, but we keep this crazy project afloat through donations. If you can afford it, we suggest a contribution of $10–$25 per person. Cash is welcome, or you can Venmo us at @rivercircus. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and all donations are tax deductible.
Parking in the area is limited, so if possible, please carpool, bus, bike, kayak, or teleport. If you are considering arriving by boat, please note that our show is much better viewed from shore — and we ask that no boats position themselves behind us during the performance.

This is just one stop on our 2025 Erie Canal and Hudson River tour. In conjunction with the Bicentennial of the Erie Canal, we’ll be traveling over 600 miles and performing in dozens of towns, all the way to New York City!
