About this Event
The Suncoast region lost substantial amounts of trees due to Hurricane Ian and Idalia. As we replant our urban and residential properties, let us be mindful of what we plant. Avoid nuisance invasives and weak limbed tree and instead focus on Florida-friendly and wind resistant trees. Join this class to learn about the trees that thrive in our suncoast region, with an emphasis on native trees, flowering Florida-friendly trees, and edible fruit/nut trees. Find out which tree is right for your location, how to plant it, and how to care for it. Upon completion of the hour-long presentation, participants will receive a native tree sapling for their landscape. Register early through Eventbrite.com to reserve your spot and receive notice of any changes.
For questions or further information, please call 941-861-5000 or email [email protected]. If you require special accommodations to attend one of our events, please contact us in advance at 941-861-5000 or [email protected].
The $3 service fee is to encourage people who reserve a native sapling (valued at ~$20) to show up for the class. The trees are stressed when transported, and we want them to go to good homes. If this cost is a barrier for you being able to attend the class, please send an email to Forest Hecker at [email protected] pledging that you will attend the class and pick up the native sapling on the date of the class. As long as we still have trees available, you can secure one for free with your pledge.
NOTE: Classes and events may be canceled at any time due to low registration or other circumstances, with full refunds issued for paid events. Similar classes or events often are offered on future dates.
