About this Event
Counselling & Co. and our community partners in Halton, are inviting you to Flora’s Walk, a fundraising walkathon, taking place on Saturday May 25, 2024 at Tannery Park in Downtown Oakville.
Flora’s Walk serves as a tribute to Flora Babakhani, a Canadian mom who tragically lost her life to untreated postpartum psychosis. Flora’s Walk is a meaningful event dedicated to raising awareness and funds to assist women and their families impacted by Postpartum Psychosis and other reproductive mental health challenges such as Postpartum Depression, Anxiety, and OCD.
We would be honored if you could attend our Oakville event and support this meaningful cause. It will be an engaging morning featuring speakers, family-friendly activities, and a collective walk. The walk route is stroller and wagon-friendly, and we warmly welcome the participation of families, including children, partners, grandparents, and friends. Please stay tuned for event updates and schedule!
In case you would like to participate in some way but are unable to attend the walk, here are some other helpful ways that you can support our fundraising event:
:
This year we aim to raise $10,000 from generous donors and sponsors like you. Any donation amount is helpful and greatly appreciated. By sponsoring us, you will be providing funds to help cover the cost of organizing the walk, as well, adding to the funds being raised to improve local perinatal mental health services in Oakville and the surrounding communities of Halton.
Counselling & Co. has a unique sponsorship donation page where you can donate funds to directly serve Oakville & the greater Halton community. Please check out our page (or keep reading on) where you can learn more about how we plan to use the funds raised this year through our fundraising efforts.
Raffle and silent auction in-kind donation:
We are currently seeking donations to serve as raffle prizes and silent auction offerings leading up to our event. These donations could include self-care or food backets, merchandise, gift cards or certificates, personal services, classes, activities, or tickets to sporting events, among others. We greatly rely on these generous contributions, and your support would be immensely valuable in helping us reach our goal. In return, we would be happy to offer recognition of you and your business through a social media shoutout and mention at the event. If you would like to donate an item, please email us at [email protected].
Day of event in-kind donation:
We are seeking sponsorship to help make the day of the event a success, and we hope to count on sponsors like you for support. Specifically, we need assistance with print materials such as banners, branded merchandise, and team t-shirts. Additionally, we would appreciate prepackaged snacks, tables, tents, and any other contributions that could enhance the experience and enjoyment of our participants. Your sponsorship in these areas would greatly contribute to the success of the event, and we are incredibly grateful for your consideration. If you would like to donate an item, please email us at [email protected].
Help us advertise the fundraiser and walk:
Any amount of advertising and spreading the word could help us reach the community at large. If you could advertise our cause within your business and/or on your social media, we would be grateful. If you know someone who could be willing to donate or sponsor our initiative and event, please do help us connect. We have material we would be happy to send you or drop off to your business.
We believe it is important for donors and sponsors to know how funds will be used:
75% of the funds raised by Counselling & Co. will go towards supporting perinatal mental health in Oakville. For Team Oakville, the funds will be used for the development, facilitation and production of materials needed to launch multiple therapist-led, in-person, perinatal therapeutic support groups. We believe it takes a village to thrive and heal and we will do everything we can to help families create those meaningful connections. Learn more about future groups.
The remaining 25% will go towards supporting Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative (CPMHC) advocacy efforts, a non-profit organization working to improve perinatal mental health care in Canada.
If you are a community based organization or private practice looking to participate but don’t want to organize a walk in your city, consider joining our team in Halton/Oakville, we would love to have you join us! If you are interested, please reach out to [email protected].
We invite you to join us and stand with us in solidarity with women and their families as we prioritize reproductive mental health initiatives. If you have any questions or want to work together for Flora’s Walk, please send us an email to [email protected].
