Floralia: Leaf Manipulation

Create a design featuring the manipulation of a leaf or leaves in a floral design. The following techniques may be used: changing the natural appearance of plant material by pruning, painting, cutting, weaving, plaiting, shaping, or other manipulation; banding or wrapping enriching plant or man-made materials in concise and consecutive rings with decorative appointments such as gold wire, raffia, or yarn; binding, bundling, or wrapping similar materials together into one bound unit; braiding or interweaving strands of foliage, fiber, ribbon, etc., to create a decorative accent; clustering a collection of like materials placed closely together in the design so individual components lose their separate identities; connecting design components to unify parts of the design into a single whole (actual or visually implied) to provide rhythm in a design; shredding or splicing drawing material over the needles of a kenzan, with pressure and pull to pierce and separate; weaving or interlacing materials to create a new dimensional texture or pattern; inserting wires into hollow or soft stems to allow bending and shaping.
Floralia is a Garden Club of Jacksonville study group that explores various floral designs and techniques through shared educational opportunities and demonstrations that foster discussion and critique among both accomplished and novice members.
This program is for members of the Garden Club of Jacksonville and their guests.
