CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Join Claire Vendetti of Billie Claire Handmade for an illustration class focusing on hand drawn florals and botanical stems with a flowing banner featuring hand lettered text of your choice.
During this two-hour workshop, Claire will walk you through how to draw a myriad of different botanical stems and plants - from prickly pear cacti and wildflowers to ferns and assorted greenery.
After picking a basic banner shape, Claire will then demonstrate her go-to techniques for creating a well-balanced and cohesive structure for your floral design. Each student will receive one-on-one guidance to help with their piece, as well as a selection of Claire’s favorite illustration tools to ink in your design.
Last but not least, students will get to choose a phrase to fill their banner - sassiness encouraged but not required. Everyone will take home a finished illustration, a handful of illustration tools, and a packet of go-to botanical designs to use in your next project! This class is open to all skill levels - no prior floral illustration experience required.
About the Instructor:
Billie Claire is a Richmond-based illustrator specializing in hand lettering, botanical illustrations, and graphic design. She loves making people laugh from the unexpected and enjoys pairing elegant florals with profanity and sass.
Originally from New Mexico and raised by a family of scientists, Billie Claire loves getting lost in nature, observing the tiniest details, and encouraging others to embrace their dark senses of humor. If she's not at a market or in her home studio, you can find her soaking up the sun on the James, eating cake at Shyndigz, or taking 5 million reference photos of flowers in her Church Hill neighborhood.
