The cherry blossom forecast map indicates that our area will soon be in bloom. This class will guide us in creating lush spring Chabana (茶花: Japanese Tea Ceremony floral arrangement). Cherry blossoms and some flowers are considered Kinka (禁花), or forbidden flowers. Let’s learn why and how we can embrace them with respect and in artful ways. Join us in celebrating the cherry blossom season with unique experiences.
A seasonal sweet will be served with a bowl of matcha. The class will be instructed by professional horticulturist and floral artist EunYoung Sebazco
Chabana (茶花, literally "tea flowers") is the arrangement of seasonal flowers for a Japanese tea ceremony. Displayed in the tokonoma alcove along with other key thematic elements for the gathering, the chabana style appeals to those who prefer a simple, natural look in their creations. While ikebana and other styles of floral arrangement prescribe their own distinct frameworks, chabana recognizes and transfers the essence of the field to the vase.
