This intensive workshop invites dancers of all levels to explore the interconnected realms of floorwork, contact improvisation, and instant composition, fostering connection and creativity through movement.
Session 1: Floorwork and Acrodance
The journey begins with an exploration of floorwork techniques, emphasizing fluid spiraling transitions to and from the floor. This session highlights the efficient use of the whole body, reducing unnecessary muscle tension and adapting movements to each dancer’s unique physicality and natural patterns. Additionally, my ongoing research integrates acrobatic elements into the Flying Low vocabulary, enriching its expressive possibilities.
Session 2: Contact Improvisation and Partnering
In this session, participants will transition into CI and partnering work, where efficient and dynamic tools enable seamless collaboration in pairs and groups. A series of carefully designed exercises will enhance trust, communication, and clarity between movers, fostering a vibrant, continuous flow of connection. These skills will naturally progress into more dynamic and acrobatic patterns.
Session 3: Group Instant Composition
The final session focuses on improvisation and instant composition, utilizing specific tasks inspired by the Passing Through technique to empower each dancer to create spontaneously in response to the group. By the end of the workshop, participants will move cohesively, seamlessly incorporating the shared vocabulary and techniques cultivated throughout the sessions.
Participation Options:
You can join one or more sessions based on your availability. However, to fully immerse yourself in the techniques and develop a stronger group dynamic, we recommend attending the entire workshop.
