Flint Under the Stars presents Big Donut with Special Guest Gaddie! Two local favorites take the stage for our October show.
Big Donut is a Rock'n'Roll power trio from Flint, Michigan. With influences spanning from the 1950s to the modern era, Big Donut creates a powerful blend of punk and surf rock, rhythm and blues, and the avant-garde. Steeped in the psychedelic traditions of bands like Cream, Band of Gypsies and the Mothers of Invention, Vaughn (guitar), Ryan (bass), and Shane (drums) have written and recorded over 100 songs. The band has over ten releases on major streaming platforms and has played various venues around Flint and the rest of Michigan for ten years.
Gaddie, also known as It’s Deonta, is a Flint-born artist whose life has always been rooted in music. Raised in concert and marching bands as well as church worship groups, he plays a wide range of instruments including trombone, baritone, drums, tuba, and guitar.
Inspired by Gil Scott-Heron, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Mac DeMarco, and the poetry of his parents, Gaddie blends blues, soul, jazz, and folk into what he describes as “filling” music—both nourishing and personal.
He has performed at venues and festivals such as The Old Miami, Golden Leaf Club, Frankenmuth Fire Festival, Porchfest, Flint Local 432, and the Capitol Theatre. His recent works include “I Just Needed Time Alone to Say,” “Café,” “Purpose,” and “Home Records.”
Age recommendation: for ages 13+
