Flint Knapping Workshop Saturday 18th May 2024 10am-4pm.Travel back in time and experience the ancient skill of flint knapping. Developing skills to work flint into carefully crafted tools allowed our hunter gatherer ancestors to thrive in this landscape. Now it's your chance to create your own flint tool using the same techniques!
Most of your time will be spent in the woods around the fire learning hands-on skills. As well as making your own flint tools you will have the opportunity to handle genuine artefacts made by our ancestors thousands of years ago.
We are fortunate to have Tristan Bareham leading the day. As former CEO of the Sussex Archaeological Society and Manager of the East Sussex Archaeology and Museums Partnership he has spent over thirty five years studying and replicating the archaeological crafts of prehistoric Sussex.
BOOKING ESSENTIAL
EARLY BOOKING ADVISED - PLACES ARE VERY LIMITED. This is to enable participants to receive individualised instruction in the practical work.
