🎬 Lights, Camera, Brisbane! Flickerfest Returns to Palace James St! 🎬Brisbane, we’re back! Flickerfest is lighting up the big screen at Palace James St with two unmissable nights of award-winning short films, fresh local talent, and incredible storytelling from across Australia and around the world.
On Thursday, 3rd April, we’re rolling out the red carpet for the Best of Australian Shorts, a celebration of homegrown brilliance! Arrive from 6pm to enjoy a complimentary drink and mingle with some of the talented filmmakers before we dive into an unforgettable lineup at 7pm.
This year’s programme is packed with Queensland gems, including ‘All Of Us At River’s End’, written by Brisbane’s own Ruben Russo and directed by Nick Elson, and the beautifully crafted hybrid documentary ‘The "Conversation"’ starring Judith Hancock AM. Sunny Coast director Tanya Modini brings us ‘And The Ocean Agreed’, while the hilarious true story ‘The Hoist’ and the Brisbane-born comedy ‘Stranded’ are sure to bring plenty of laughs. Plus, audiences will get to see two of Flickerfest’s 2025 award-winners, ‘The Fix-It-Man And Fix-It-Wooman’ and ‘Marcia and The Shark’, both recognised as some of Australia’s best short films this year.
Then, on Friday, 4th April, we’re taking you on a cinematic journey across Europe with the Best of EU Showcase. This stunning collection of films includes the breathtaking Belgian short ‘Beautiful Men’, which just won Best International Animation at Flickerfest 2025 and is nominated for an Academy Award! Irish favourite ‘Me And Dad’ brings warmth and heart, while the powerful German drama ‘This Is Not A Character This Is Betrayal’ delivers a striking emotional punch.
