A group of seventeen professional ladies, who were visionaries, had an initial meeting on June 30, 1973. After about a year of engaging in projects, which responded to the needs of the Fort Lauderdale community, these seventeen ladies became The Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated on September 21, 1974. The charter members were: Links Enid Allen, Mary Allen, Agnes Burrows, Carolyn Dandy, Eddie Pearl DeGraffenreidt, Frankie Foeman, Inez Gardener, Ethel Johnson, Pearl Maloney, Rose Merritt, Nielza Pittman, Alma Reddick, Margaret Roach, Eleanor Robinson, Florie Seabury, Gloria Stephenson, and Thomasiana Torrence. As time has transpired, more ladies have joined the initial seventeen to form a strong body of 60+ members.
