Grow Wilder welcomes Simon & Ann from Flaxland; artisan natural fibre growers and processors since 2008, suppliers of flax seed for growing, fibre, processing tools, workshops, education shows and events. Flax is one of our oldest crops grown in the British Isles since the bronze age, its stems produce one of the strongest and most versatile plant fibres. The nutritional value of its seeds, the qualities of its oils extracted from them have multiple uses both around the home and in industry.
The workshop will be a combination of a talk; on the history and uses of flax, as well as practical working threshing the grain and using hand blocks and combs to process the flax fibre.
