About the “Kioke” LunchEventWhere Japan’s Flavors Are Born
This is more than just a lunch event — it’s a journey
into the heart of Japan’s culinary heritage.
Kioke are traditional wooden barrels that have been
used since the Edo period to brew sake, soy sauce, miso, and other fermented
foods. Each barrel is alive, nurtured by generations of artisans who have
carefully preserved this craft. The flavors created through these barrels carry
not only depth and aroma, but also the spirit of Japanese culture itself.
For this event, we have invited Mr. Tadayuki
Iwasaki, a true ambassador of authentic Japanese cuisine and one of Japan’s
leading buyers from Shinanoya Supermarket, a company with nearly
100 years of history supporting the Japanese dining table
Through his stories and insights, we hope to share the
living history of Kioke and the passion of the producers who
continue this beautiful tradition today. By tasting these sauces and dishes,
you’re not only enjoying authentic Japanese flavor — you’re also helping to
preserve an irreplaceable part of Japan’s cultural heritage.
Join us to experience how tradition, craftsmanship, and
fermentation come together to create flavors that are truly good for
the taste, and good for the soul.
