About this Event
The 2nd annual Heartland Book Festival will take place on October 12 at the Central Library in downtown Kansas City with authors, books, activities, and more! Join us for a flash nonfiction writing workshop located in the Turner Board Room.
Everyone has a story. Sometimes it’s a chance encounter worthy of a mystery novel; sometimes it’s a simple moment of beauty that stops you in your tracks. But putting it into words can be difficult. In this workshop, learn how to turn everyday life into a compelling narrative using techniques from creative nonfiction.
This workshop is taught by a student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing and is intended for ages 16 and up.
The Heartland Book Festival is co-presented by the Kansas City Public Library, Missouri Humanities, and the Missouri Center for the Book.
This workshop is presented through Writers for Readers, a partnership between the Library and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
