
About this Event
In this beginner friendly workshop, we will use gas torches to melt crystal clear borosilicate class and add color to create hanging ornaments that have unique patterns and special effects. The focus will be on making several types of hanging icicles wih beautiful curves and elegant shape. Other types of hanging ornaments will also be demonstrated, such as a starfish. Instruction will be provided on safety, how to work with hot glass, add color, and shape it into a graceful icicle about 6 inches in size. Your creations will be annealed in a kiln after class and be ready for you to pick up in about a week. Or, you have the option to skip the annealing and take your art home at the end of class.
Your instructor, Steve Bay, is a glass artist that creates sculpture and jewelry using flameworking and fusing (@stevebayglass). Steve applies his marine biology background to capture the beauty and remarkable design of nature in his art. Class size is limited to six persons to ensure personal attention from the instructor. Participants must be at least 14 years of age. For safety, please wear only cotton clothing, long pants, and closed toe shoes during the class. Long hair should be secured away from the face.
