Flamenco is the passionate musical art form of Andalusia, the southern region of Spain where gypsy culture has mixed with Moorish and Spanish folkloric culture. Flamenco is the marriage of the singer’s voice to the percussive and emotive guitar, often interpreted by dancers who combine percussive footwork with soulful movement to capture and elevate the intention of the singer. This time the production of SUENA BIEN is bringing to Calgary the wonderful Andalusian flamenco singer born and steeped in the flamenco neighbourhoods of Huelva, Spain, Celedonio Garrido.
He will bring his deep knowledge and execution of the traditional flamenco song or CANTE flamenco hosted by SoundBar, located downtown at 628 8 Avenue SW. Tosh Hayashi, Jorge Villena, and Ricardo Sanchez will accompany with guitar and there will be some dance by Maria Regnier.
