Flamenco is the passionate musical art form of Andalusia, the southern region of Spain where gypsy culture has mixed with Moorish and Spanish folkloric culture. Flamenco is the marriage of the singer’s voice to the percussive and emotive guitar, often interpreted by dancers who combine percussive footwork with soulful movement to capture and elevate the intention of the singer.Celedonio Garrido, a wonderful singer from Huelva Spain, along with guitarist Tosh Hayashi and dancers Maria Regnier, Francesca Canalizo, Silvia Temis, and Tracy Cumberbatch will take their artistry to SoundBar’s stage for two nights of traditional dance, song and guitar.

ABOUT CELEDONIO GARRIDO:
Celedonio Garrido, a wonderful Andalusian flamenco singer born and steeped in the flamenco neighbourhoods of Huelva, Spain, is visiting Calgary this May. He will bring his deep knowledge and execution of the traditional flamenco song forms to participate the two nights.
****Special Note: There will also be a third Celedonio performance, on May 17th, Flamenco Por Cante (Flamenco for Voice), there will be no dance element in this final performance. Instead, Celedonio will appear accompanied by instrumentation alone, a very traditional format for the presentation of the flamenco artform. Guitarists Tosh Hayashi and Jorge Villena will interpret Celedonio’s songs.

****Special Note on the venue: There will be no food service at the venue. There will be a bar in continual operation where both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options will be available.
