Learn the fundamentals of Flamenco Dance Accompaniment at the Colorado Institute of Flamenco!
This immersive study provides a unique opportunity for guitarists to learn the intricacies and nuances associated with accompanying a flamenco dancer.
We need more flamenco dance accompanist in Denver! Come join us for a class!
Learn the importance of structure of the song form (palo), maintaining a solid rhythm, how to identify the dancer’s cues, the related chord structure that follows the cante (song), as well as how to use falsetas (melodic phrases) and rhythmic patterns of the right-hand like rasegeo (strumming), alzapúa (thumb), and arpeggios to coincide with the footwork. This highly important foundational skill is designed to grow confidence and independenc, and help you gain dance accompaniment experience.
- Pre-requisite: Must have at least 1 year of flamenco studies or equivalent.
- Class runs every Thursday at 7:30 PM (75-minutes) at the Denver Dance Center
- No Class on Nov 17 (performance) or Nov. 24 - Thanksgiving!
- 10-weeks
