Handy library volunteers and local nonprofits will give patrons the opportunity to get hands-on practice with DIY home and garden projects. Ask questions of people with years of home repair experience, get lists of materials and tools, and informational resources that will empower you to do minor home repair and garden preparation. Participating organizations include:
Green Iowa AmeriCorps: Demonstration of weatherization techniques.
Master Gardeners of Linn County: Demonstration of garden tool maintenance, preparing yards and gardens for winter, winter sowing, caring for backyard wildlife, and more.
Cedar Rapids Public Library: Volunteers with years of experience will demonstrate basic repairs for toilet issues and how to patch holes in well-loved jeans.
