On Saturday, May 11, 2024, all kids are invited to bring their fishing pole and bait to Glik Park for the City's Annual Fishing Derby! This derby is designed for youth up to 15 years old, accompanied by an adult. The derby consists of an hour and a half to catch as many fish as they can! Once fishing concludes prizes are given out for biggest caught fish, smallest caught, and most caught fish. At the end all participants get to go home with a free cherry limeade provided by Sonic!FISHING LESSONS
The Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to offer youth up to age 15 free fishing lessons at Glik Park! We ask that all children be accompanied by an adult, but no equipment is necessary! Classes will be taught by an IDNR representative. Fishing lessons will be held at Lecliare park leading up to the derby. You can attend either the class on Monday, May 6 or Thursday, May 9 starting at 4 p.m..
