A four Day intensive for first time filmmakers. This is for anybody interested in making film - whether you're a writer, director, actor or straight up film fanatic. Anyone with a smartphone can shoot a film. In just four days you will write, shoot, edit and screen a film as part of Unthinkable Film Festival. Working in small teams using tech assistance and equipment, you will turn your smartphone into a camera using the revered Black Magic App. Each group will be working with experienced mentors and have the opportunity to work with skilled actors.
Day 1: You’ll be taken through the writing process learning about character, structure and plot by Hull’s leading industry screen writer Paul Stephenson.
Day 2: Workshops on directing, the golden rules of filmmaking, turning your phone into a camera and rehearsal.
Day 3: Shooting the film on location with actors.
Day 4: You will learn how to sharpen your story through the editing and grading process before finally sitting back and watching your work on the big screen.
Smartphone equipment prizes worth £200 up for grabs for the best film which will be judged by our panel of industry guests. Supporting grassroots filmmaking and breaking barriers through collaboration and community.
