Designed for children ages 4 to 9, *First Stitches* is a beginner-friendly sewing program. Young participants will explore both hand sewing and introductory machine sewing.Registration is required for this class, due to availability of materials. No one will be ever turned away from a program, yet registration is important for material availability.
This class will run six weeks; our plan is teaching hand-sewing skills to children ages 4 to 9 with the end goal of making a simple hand-sewn tote bag and Softie. The plan gradually builds motor skills, basic sewing techniques, and confidence through age-appropriate activities.

Project Goal: Complete a small hand-sewn tote bag and Softie
Duration: 6 weeks, 1 session per week (45–60 minutes each)
Skills Covered: Threading a needle, running stitch, backstitch, tying knots, fabric handling, safety

If you bring younger kids to the program, do to not having childcare, we will be happy to give them stitch boards to work on.
