I was recently made aware of a “First on the scene” first aid class that is being offered at the Smithfield Sportsman’s Club in Smithfield, RI on January 11th. This class is being put on by the Smithfield Fire Department and Smithfield EMA. Registration link is in the first comment. This class covers basic CPR, Bleeding control, and Epinephrine and Naloxone usage. The last class had about 60 attendees and was given great reviews. As I say in all my RSO classes, having first aid knowledge is imperative when acting as a Range Safety Officer. Having the required items available in a trauma kit is only half the battle; knowing how to use it is the other half. And knowing is half the battle (G.I. JOE!) If you have not taken any classes, I highly suggest this one. You won’t get “certified” by the AHA or Red Cross, but you will get the more important stuff – information that could save a life. Am I overselling this? OK, I’m done. Please consider signing up for this class
