The Deans Of Soul are an original Soul band based in Naarm ‘Melbourne’, Australia. They are winners of The Music Victoria Award for Best Indigenous Act 2014 and were nominated for “Band of the Year” in the prestigious Deadly Awards in 2007.
The Deans Of Soul combine soul, funk and old school R & B influences to create a modern Melbourne soul sound, with velvet smooth vocals, sweet harmonies, soaring heartbreak guitar, deep Motown bass grooves and hip-shaking rhythms.
They launched their latest album ‘Peace, Pride & Joy’ in July 2025.
Kinja means ‘my home’ in Wamba Wamba. Kinja is the husband and wife duo Sarah James and Ron Murray, who play a mixture of Celtic and Australian folk songs accompanied by fiddle and didgeridoo. Sarah is of Scottish Ancestry, and Ron is a descendant of the Wamba Wamba people, whose traditional area is around Victoria's Swan Hill. Both Sarah and Ron have worked in Aboriginal Affairs, and their commitment to social justice and equity for First Nations people brought them together. The Kinja sound is an ethereal blend of Indigenous Australian and Celtic inspired moods, their music uniting their heritage.
Tea & coffee for a donation available throughout the night.
