Join us at our second Widowed Support Luncheon being held in Perth on 1 April 2025.The First Light Widowed Support Luncheons are unique events designed to empower and inspire those who have lost a life partner regardless of gender, age, religious background, sexual orientation, relationship status.
Each event is carefully planned based on information provided by attendees (such as age, time widowed, life experiences).
For some these events will offer inspiration for taking the first steps towards rebuilding healthy, successful and fulfilling lives following the death of their partner. For others, who may be further along in their grief, these events also offer opportunities for community connection, building further support networks and surrounding yourself with others who understand widowed grief.
We all have different stories and timelines, but together we can offer each other hope, inspiration and shared experiences that help us to navigate widowed grief with the knowledge that we are not alone.
Designed to improve mental wellbeing, resilience and community connection, our luncheons bring widowed people together in a positive atmosphere to:
- hear from experienced speakers 🎤
- grow their peer support network through community-building opportunities, helping to overcome feelings of isolation, loneliness and hopelessness 🤝
- access informed resources and a take-home information pack 🫶
- discuss grief in a safe and supportive environment where the focus is not on ‘death’, but on rebuilding a life after loss ❤️🩹
- validate the widowed experience and encourage attendees to take the first steps forward with their grief and rebuild healthy, successful and fulfilling lives.🫂
One of the features that makes these events so unique is that the organisers, facilitators, speakers and volunteers are all widowed themselves.
The events are hosted by widowed people, for widowed people – attendees are surrounded by those with a lived experience of grief – something that can only be understood and validated by others who share this life experience.
