About this Event
Join us for FIRST® LEGO® League Explore in-person professional development at the Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida. You will work with other teachers during this two-day learning experience that provides you with all the tools you need to facilitate this FIRST® program and achieve STEM learning objectives in your classroom.
PLEASE NOTE: The first session starts on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 8:30am - 4:30pm. The second session is on Wednesday, June15, 2022, from 8:30am - 2:30 pm. Please make travel arrangements to allow to attend both sessions the full amount of time.
As a participant in the FIRST LEGO League Explore immersive learning experience you will:
- Learn to foster student computational thinking and collaboration skills, and how to guide students through the science behind the Explore theme and facilitate the creative design of a solution to a real-world problem
- Utilize, model, and reinforce the FIRST® Core Values
- Work in small groups with other attendees using either a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential or LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 robot
- Participate in the FIRST FIRST LEGO League Explore (grades 2-4) experience from a student's point of view and more!
FIRST will provide:
- FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Set
- Digital copies of the Team Meeting Guide and Engineering Notebook
- Either a LEGO Education SPIKE Essential or LEGO Education WeDo 2.0
You need to bring:
- Computer with Internet Access
- Software downloaded prior to first session – https://education.lego.com/en-us/downloads - Select Spike Essential or WeDo 2.0 and then click on the drop arrow to choose your device for downloading– note: be sure to download, install and restart your computer
NOTE: If you reside in Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico, South Dakota or West Virginia sales tax applies. Please email [email protected] to receive registration payment instructions for these states, or to provide us with a tax exempt form. Full payment must be received for admission to this session. If payment is received without applicable taxes, we will contact you.
A minimum of 4 registered participants are required. You will be notified 1 week prior if there are not a minimum of participants. At that time you will be given additional options to attend a different cohort.
Cancellation Policy: Paid FIRST Professional Development is nonrefundable. If you are unable to attend the paid Remote Professional Development and need to cancel your registration, you may reschedule up to one time to a future date, but within 12 months of the original date. Substitutions (one individual for another) are allowed at any time. Please let us know your intent within 72 hours before the start date by sending an email to [email protected]. If you do not cancel within 72 hours and do not attend the workshop you will forfeit the opportunity to reschedule.
