Unleash your inner child, grab your hopper ball and head to Merewether Beach and help celebrate the Winter Solstice with a 300m race along the sands from the surf club to the surfhouse and back.Low tide will be at 10am, so the sand will be nice and firm down by the waterline for those wanting to race for glory, but still nice and soft for those up the top wanting to have a giggle and planning to fall off a lot.
A gold coin donation is all that is required to participate, which will go towards a local charity yet to be determined.
If this takes off we will see about some prizes for the podium finishers in the adult and kiddie categories, as well as the best-dressed hopper and stuff, but needless to say that the first person across the line will score a Freddo Frog.
So get your hopper inflated and get practicing. If you don't have a hopper then hit up Google and score one from somewhere like Amazon or www.hopballs.com
