About this Event
Down to the Sea in Ships... and Up from Italy's Coastal Vineyards
Historic downtown New Bedford celebrates First Fridays with programming at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. In February their feature presentation is a 1922 silent film classic Down to the Sea in Shipsβfilmed right here in New Bedford--and The Drawing Room invites you to explore another maritime heritage: the wines of Italy's coastal regions.
Just as New Bedford's whalers ventured across the Atlantic to distant shores, tonight's wine journey takes you to Italy's sun-drenched coastlines where seafaring traditions have shaped wine culture for millennia. From the Ionian shores of Calabria to the waterways of Veneto, taste wines from regions where fishing fleets, maritime trade, and coastal life infuse every vintage with the spirit of the sea.
Our tasting voyage is lead by Dave Gansler of La Rosa Selections.
