During the winter, this event is held in the basement of an old German church on the Upper East Side. Enter down the outside steps to the right of the building.
During the summer, it's in the balcony of that same church, or on a rooftop when we can find one. Enter at the main door and take the stairs up to your left.
It is a Christian-sponsored worship gathering, but sets are not always explicitly religious. We welcome interfaith and pluralistic engagement with questions of meaning and spirituality. Past presenters have come from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and skeptic perspectives. The main ask of all presenters is to share something that connects with your personal story and perhaps your search for meaning. It's a safe place to explore that no matter the faith or non-faith background you come from. We gather to build relationships with each other and to participate in a culture where expression is easy.
Sets may consist of storytelling, poetry, music, and some gatherings are more structured than others. Follow us on Instagram (@adventcollegiate) or join our mailing list for specific details about each upcoming gathering.
We invite you to swing by and see if this is something you connect with. Share at the level of your comfort.
Advent Collegiate is completely free to college students in New York City thanks in part to support from Seventh-day Adventists. We welcome questions, dialogue, and you. No matter what.
