In a Truly Unique Irish Heritage Experiences
ALBANY, N.Y. - September 1, 2025 - The Irish American Heritage Museum (IAHM) is pleased to announce a new, monthly artistic showcase and performance series, starting September 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM. These “Irish Talent Salons,” which will take place the first Friday of every month at IAHM’s Flanagan Theater, are in furtherance of IAHM’s partnership with Metroland Now. The September 5, 2025 event will be hosted/facilitated by the brilliant, NYC based Irish seanchaí and musician, Donie Carroll.
Upstate New York has been - and remains - the home of many talented Irish diaspora and their influences, including Michael Flanagan of the Flanagan Brothers (prolific recording artists/Irish band in the early 1900s with global prominence and influence); the Leonard and Kelly families; Kevin McKrell; and, All-Ireland champion musicians and dancers who live/have lived in the region.
In the spirit of that local, rich history and influence, the Irish American Heritage Museum’s Irish Talent Salons will take place the first Friday of every month, from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. These events are intended to showcase creative work in a warm, welcoming and intimate concert space. All genres of artistic expression are encouraged, including that created by visual artists, writers (to read original prose, poetry, etc.), seanchaí (tellers of old lore and histories), storytellers, musicians, actors, singers, and other performers from the region’s artistic community.
All artists are welcome, regardless of where they are in their artistic journey. Seasoned artists will certainly inspire newer artists. Newer artists will influence all present by sharing their work, stories, and creative energy. A goal of the Irish Talent Salons will be the experiencing and sharing of the creative process. Through this participation, our collective sense of heritage and creativity will be enhanced.
Participating creatives are encouraged to sign up for an available time slot in advance of each of IAHM’s Irish Talent Salon. This can be done on IAHM’s Eventbrite page. In order to insure availability for all interested artists, there will be an eight minutes time limit per performance. If all available time slots are taken on an intended IAHM Irish Talent Salon date, the artist is encouraged to contact IAHM Executive Director Michael C. Clarke.
