A vibrant collection of masks, costumes, and carnival treasures will transform the Anne Lloyd Gallery into a celebration of Mardi Gras culture. The exhibit features souvenirs and mementos loaned by local community members who have experienced Mardi Gras in New Orleans or enjoyed NOLA traditions closer to home, including fine and folk arts that highlight the color, music, and spirit of Carnival season. At the First Friday Opening, enjoy live New Orleans–style jazz in the gallery along with Mardi Gras–inspired sangria and small bites as you explore the display. All are welcome to drop in, mingle, and soak up the festive atmosphere; the event and exhibit are free and open to the public.
This event is presented in cooperation with the Children's Museum of Illinois, in support of their annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser.
