Leah Kaufman - As Chris Spector, from the Midwest Record, describes it, Leah Kaufman’s music is: “Delightful singing and playing that can make people who make faces at the mention of folk music, stop being so rude.” From the sweetness of a lullaby to a driving honky-tonk dance tune, each song starts with fine finger- or flat-picking guitar, layers on ear-catching vocals, and then keeps you listening with finely detailed stories.
Have you ever wondered what happened to Dorothy after Oz? What Don Quixote’s old horse thought about his master’s travels and travails? Leah has a knack for finding the unexpected story and turning it into a song - just listen to ‘Ruby Shoes’ and ‘Rosinante’ from her album, ‘On to Something Fine’.
Her newest album, ‘Midnight Refrain’, highlights how easily she moves across genres, entrancing listeners with songs ranging from a Cole Porter-inspired love ballad, toe-tapping finger-style hobo blues, to the award-winning funny, poignant ‘Postcards from Dog Heaven’. You can check out Leah and her songs at www.leahk.com, Soundcloud, Amazon, iTunes, and YouTube.
Sassy Cats & The Toms - About nine years ago, Sandy McCloud (former Atlanta and Savannah DJ (Mark and Sandy Morning Show)) and Jamie Kelso (Georgia champion high school clarinetist) were singing together as the Sassy Cats in the Savannah/Tybee Island area when Miguel de Jesus (the pride of Puerto Rico’s amateur percussionist corps) and Dan Cooper(proud former and current hippie) joined to form The Sassy Cats and the Toms. They bonded over a love for all genres of music including folk and folk/rock, country, bossa nova, cheesy lounge music and songs from the American songbook. They harmonize songs whenever they can and play a full sounding rhythm section that includes keyboard, 12 and 6 string as well as bass guitar, harmonica, congas, various sound effects and samsonite bass drum
