Catch the Jacob Shije Trio this Summer as part of the Heard Museum’s First Friday Concert Series! Jacob Shije, an Indigenous musician from Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico, embodies the spirit of rock’n’roll with his band, the Jacob Shije Trio. Influenced by the legendary sounds of Link Wray, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens, Jacob’s passion for rockabilly drives him to share the infectious energy of rock & roll with his audience. Jacob, alongside bassist, Tanya Nunez of Ysleta del Pueblo and drummer, Royce Platero of the Navajo Nation, the Jacob Shije Trio aims to celebrate the timeless legacy of rock & roll while infusing it with their own flair, creating a musical experience that resonates far beyond the stage.
Before his set, be sure to visit Maria and Modernism inside the museum. This will be one of the last opportunities to view the awe-inspiring work of Maria Martinez before the exhibition closes on July 28th, 2024.
