Join us for an evening of Art, Science, and Wonder.Join ScienceWorks in our newest exhibition space, "The Art of Science" gallery, designed to integrate art with science. Debuting on First Friday, July 5th, from 5-7pm, "Bovine Beach, July, and Other Paintings From Vesper Meadow," features the science-inspired work of artist Sarah F Burns.
From the Artist: Each July, starting in 2019, I make a painting at a particular spot called Bovine Beach on Latgawa Creek at Vesper Meadow. I do this in order to track the restoration work happening on this conservation property located near Howard Prairie Lake in the Cascades near Ashland. When I started I imagined this would be many years before there would be much difference in the creek. I was amazed to see changes every year, both from restoration efforts like willow planting and the installation of post assisted log structures (PALS that act much like beaver dams, restoring spring flooding to the meadow), and also differences in the climate from year to year.
Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve is a source of year round inspiration for me as well. Included in the exhibit are paintings I've made in every season.
