MEETING PLACE:Beginning at City Park Pavilion on Park Ave. (only a half mile from the state park) at 1 p.m. For directions, enter “City Park Stone Ampitheater Mountain View, Arkansas” into your GPS.
Start the New Year off right with a hike to the Ozark Folk Center State Park from the beautiful Stone Amphitheater in Mountain View, Arkansas!
On this guided hike, park interpreter Keith Symanowitz will share the story of the Ozark Folk Center’s founding throughout your scenic hike from the Whitewater Creek Trail to the Ozark Folk Center State Park. The hike includes stops at the Heritage Herb Garden, Craft Village, Shannon Cabin Homestead and Ozark Highlands Theater - The park’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue. They’ll even be an opportunity for all ages to learn to square dance at the theater!
ENDING PLACE:
The hike will finish around 3 p.m. at the Rec Room in the Cabins Office, located at the Ozark Folk Center, for hot cocoa, coffee and a fun hands-on activity for kids. NOTE: This is a one-way hike. At the end of your First Day Hike, a park shuttle bus will return you to your vehicle at the City Park Stone Ampitheater.
SAFETY & HEALTH:
-The hike will be about 3 miles with some steep, wet and rocky terrain, as well as asphalt and concrete. Sturdy boots with ankle support are recommended.
-Bring water and dress appropriately for the weather. Bathrooms are available at the City Park and at the Ozark Folk Center.
