Join us at the Mint to mark the beginning of 2025 with the chance to mint the first coins of the year. Here’s everything you need to know:
First Coin of the Year – 1 January 2025
This will be your chance to strike one of the first coins made in 2025.
On 1 January 2025, the Mint will hold a raffle for the chance to be to the first person to mint a coin anywhere in the world for 2025. Visitors of the Mint will receive 1 wristband per person to enter the raffle. Secure your wristband and go in the draw to win.
The winners will be the first 100 visitors to strike a coin in Australia for 2025. Each lucky winner will receive a certificate authenticating their coin for 2025.
As part of this historical occasion, the first coin will be set in a piece of marble taken from the iconic Mint building’s heritage listed floor during recent renovations.
Raffle numbered wristbands: Available on-site from 7:00am to 8:00am only
Raffle draw: 8:00am
Minting fee: $3 per coin (bring cash)
Limit: 1 coin per person
Standard Coin Press limits apply during regular opening hours.
☕ Mint Café: Open for coffee orders outside from 6:30am to 10:00am. Normal trading hours resume at 10:00am.
