About this Event
Welcome to the First Citizen of Virginia Beach event!
This year, we honor our 72nd First Citizen of Virginia Beach, former Governor Bob McDonnell, whose service to the Commonwealth and our Virginia Beach community showcases his legacy of servant leadership, humility, and passion. Notable achievements include his 21 years of military service and roles as Delegate, Attorney General, and Governor. He launched Virginians for Reconciliation in 2019. McDonnell is the father of 5, the grandfather of 8, an active participant on many community charitable boards, an amateur drummer, and a dedicated volunteer, having served with his family in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina with Operation Blessing.
In addition to celebrating Governor McDonnell, we are delighted to recognize two other distinguished individuals who embody the spirit of our organization. Delceno Miles will be honored with the RISE Award for her exceptional dedication to uplifting and empowering our community. Ron Swan will receive the CREED Award, reflecting his unwavering commitment to the principles that guide the Virginia Beach Jaycees: faith, brotherhood, justice, and service to humanity.
