It's time to get paddle racing BACK on the Middle James River in Virginia! Join us for camaraderie and competition for a great cause! Proceeds from the races will go to the Scottsville Center for Art in Nature public events and Elk Hill Outdoor Adventure programming for youth in need. ALL Racers, report to James River Reeling and Rafting, next to the Scottsville Boat Landing for registration from 10:30-11:30!

The races finish at Nurture With Nature, a free festival celebrating the power of nature with dozens of local vendors and activities. Race entry also includes a commemorative T-Shirt and entry to the awards Ceremony and Celebration at James River Runners following the race! Live Music, Beverages and Local Food Trucks starting at 2:30!
There are two race lengths, Warren Ferry to Scottsville Public Landing (7 miles) and Howardsville to Scottville Public Landing (9 miles). Registration for BOTH Races opens at Scottsville Boat Landing at 10:30. Racers and gear will be shuttled up by outfitters from Scottsville approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the race. Howardsville race starts at 12:00, Warren starts at 12:30. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on racers from James River Runners property at Hatton Ferry!
Racer categories for both race distances are: Solo Kayak, Tandem Canoe and Solo Canoe. ALL canoes are to be paddled with a single blade. Sign up for the race length you want here, categories and numbers will be assigned on race day.
Scottsville Fire and Rescue will be onsite to provide safety for all participants, including at rapids. BOTH courses include rapids that can be up to Class 2 depending on water levels. Participants should be comfortable navigating Class 2 rapids and understand general river hazards including but not limited to rocks, strainers, man made structures, etc. Races may be cancelled or restricted to expert paddlers if river level exceeds 6 feet on the Scottsville Gauge or if there is a threat of significant severe weather.
