🌞Chasing the Sun: Skate Camp
is a three-day event hosted in Starkey Wilderness campgrounds in New Port Richey, ending with a beach skate at Fred Howard park in Tarpon Springs. It blends longboarding, community, and recovery in nature. This event is for those who enjoy LDP with friends, it's beginner friendly, and all wheels are welcomed! Minors with adults are welcomed for the group ride and 10k race however camping is for adults only. Kennedy Therapeutics will be providing a recovery tent for attendees to try out different recovery tools such as Therabody devices and foam rollers.
Schedule:
Friday October 10th:
🏕 Camp set up at Group B
The primitive group camp site is along the hiking trails and has several picnic tables, a water spigot, grills and one large fire pit. No electric is available. Restrooms have electric and are located in the tent camping area. This group site can accommodate up to 40 campers.
🌅Chasing the Sun 10k Race 6:30pm
Takes place on the Starkey bike path, you'll be chasing' the sun at sunset. This race is open to non-electric skateboards and longboards.🛹
🍕 Pizza & Movie 8pm
K.T. will be providing a pizza dinner for campers. An excellent way to carb load for the group ride on Saturday! We'll be viewing "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty".
Saturday October 11th:
🛹🛼🛴Group Ride (All-Wheels) 10am-4pm
The Starkey bike path goes roughly 7 miles through the wilderness connecting to the Suncoast trail. There's a bathroom and water fountain at this intersection however be sure to prepare for the distance in-between. We'll take an extended break there before heading south for 4 miles on the Suncoast trail towards St. Rd. 54. This section of the trail has a major highway on one side and wilderness on the other. We'll end up at the intersection of 54 and the Suncoast, there is no water fountain at this trailhead. There's several restaurants and a Publix with a cafe. After lunch we'll head back to camp. This ride is self-supported. Please, wear a helmet and mind other riders along the trails. Leave no-trace! There's several benches along the way, we'll be taking a leisurely pace to enjoy the park and company.

I'll be taking a poll to select a Halloween movie.
Sunday October 12th:
⛺️Pack out! Check out is at 10am.

🏖Meet up at Fred Howard Beach in Tarpon Springs for a couple seaside laps around the causeway and a swim.🛹
