About this Event
First Alarm Strategy and Tactics
This program focuses on the decisions made by company officers in the “first SCBA cylinder” of firefighting at our most common building types. Drawing on real world experience, you’ll learn fireground proven strategies and tactics for singlefamily, multiple-family, and commercial buildings. We will discuss the tactical options for the most common fire scenarios in these structures and outline decision making models for rapidly selecting the most appropriate engine and truck company operations at these fires. The information in this interactive program will help both new and veteran firefighters and officers make better decisions, more rapidly, to stop the fire and save lives.
Combat Ready Firefighting
It’s all about attitude. How we approach the job dictates how we perform the job. Our attitude is our choice and this intense, interactive training frankly discusses the attitudes and mindsets in today’s fire service and how they affect our ability to save lives and property, keep each other safe, and get the job DONE. Too many firefighters, and entire departments, have allowed complacency and poor attitudes to slip in to their heads and operations resulting in inefficient operations that do not deliver what our citizens expect and deserve. For those with the right mindset, the frustration of working with others who are “checked out” can be intensely frustrating, and watching the effects of poor performance on the fireground can be tragic and heartbreaking. We’ll explore the sources and causes of this complacency, the resulting “calamity of errors” and what you can specifically do to implement a Combat Ready mentality at the individual, company and department levels.
