First Aid Response (FAR) Refresher Course [2 day Course]

Course Overview and Objectives:
This First Aid Response (FAR) Refresher course is designed for individuals who hold a valid PHECC FAR certificate (up to two years from the last training date). A 30-day grace period is provided if the certificate has recently expired. The course is recognised by the Irish Health and Safety Authority and meets the legal requirements for first aid in the workplace. It is also highly relevant for individuals who may need to provide first aid in personal, social, or sporting situations.
Participants will refresh and update their first aid skills, enabling them to assist individuals who become suddenly unwell or injured before the arrival of emergency medical services. The course also focuses on managing cardiac arrest, CPR, and the use of an AED.
Course Content and Materials:
The course includes the following key topics:
Review of essential first aid skills for workplace and personal settings
Recognising and managing sudden illness and injuries
Hands-on CPR and AED practice for adults, children, and infants
How to manage choking, burns, fractures, and other common injuries
Updates on recent first aid protocols and guidelines
Training will involve practical exercises and scenarios, with all materials and equipment provided to ensure participants gain real-world skills and confidence.
Assessment and Qualification:
Participants will be assessed through practical demonstrations and scenario-based assessments to ensure competence in first aid, CPR, and AED use.
This course is certified by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (Phecc).
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Certificate, valid for another two years.
