The SERVPRO Firefighter Combat Challenge promotes, showcases, and publicly celebrates the selfless spirit and extraordinary fitness levels of America’s firefighter heroes and heroines in an exciting and entertaining sports competition. Commonly referred to as “the toughest two minutes” in sports, this event exemplifies the various skillsets and talents of firefighters while in full bunker gear, climbing a five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses, and rescuing a life-sized 175-pound “victim”. We invite you to join us in honoring these men and women at the World Championships, where firefighters will travel to Salt Lake City from across the United States and from many countries around the globe.The physical challenge is only half of the story for our firefighters. The critical services they provide our communities have mental and emotional consequences. Across the nation firefighters lead all other occupations in two disturbing statistics: suicide and divorce.
SERVPRO has partnered with Mental Health for Heroes. This foundation eliminates the financial burden on our first responders to receive the mental health care they deserve. Spouses and children of our first responders are also covered. Mental Health for Heroes trains and certifies clinicians to be PTSD Proficient and is working to break down the stigma associated with receiving mental health care. Their tag line is “Responding to Those Who Respond First.”
Our firefighters are often the first to come to our rescue in our most dreaded circumstances. We believe they deserve every opportunity to heal from the trauma they experience on our behalf. We invite you to be part of giving back to our heroes with this special event.
