Speakers:
Keynote Speaker Bob Wilson of Worker’s Comp. College, a nationally recognized expert in matters pertaining to worker’s comp. from the employer side, will interview Ryan Guppy and Vickie Kennedy. Ryan and Vickie are recognized as on the cutting edge of Worker’s comp. and vocational recovery and are sought after speakers. Bob is funny, smart and irreverent and the interview will be informative and entertaining. Bob has presented at seminars and conferences on a variety of topics, related to both technology within the workers’ compensation industry, and bettering the workers’ comp system through improved employee/employer relations and claims management techniques. He has been designated as one of the “50 Most Influential People in the Workers’ Compensation Industry” by the SEAK Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Medical Conference. He was also the recipient of the 2019 Comp Laude Industry Leader Award. Known for an extraordinary sense of humor, his presentations reflect both entertaining and practical advice for both people managing claims and the people “picking up the tab”.
The Department of Labor & Industries will present with members of the Vocational Community on the Vocational Recovery Advisory Group with the subgroups of Job Development, AWA Aged claims and VR Redux. They will provide relevant updates and current best practices.
Casey Jackson will be presenting on Motivational Interviewing and Ethics. Casey has worked in Behavioral health for over 30 years and is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). He is the lead author of the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA) and has presented at many conferences in a wide-variety of professional fields for line-level staff as well as administrators and other leadership. He has provided over 2000 trainings on Motivational Interviewing and system change to organizations and professionals in: Healthcare, mental health, addictions, corrections/prisons, local and state government, law enforcement, probation, employment services, juvenile court services, family services, child welfare, schools/universities, aging and long-term care, blind and visually impaired services, deaf and hard of hearing services, and head start/early head start.
