About this Event

Fire Building with Kory Snache

Kory Snache is a cultural land-based educator that works for Wasauksing First Nation. He is from Rama First Nation and has been a traditional harvester for the majority of his life.

Join us as Kory teaches us about Anishnaabeg general understanding of fire and how to create a fire in all seasons. Participants will get to go outside and gather material and try various ways in which to start a fire


We acknowledge that Downsview Park is on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit.


This program is for participants 12 years of age or older.

This education program is proudly supported by TD Bank Group.

Pets are not permitted at this program. Service animals are always welcome.

Construire un feu avec Kory Snache

Kory Snache est un éducateur culturel axé sur la terre qui travaille pour la Première Nation Wasauksing. Il est de la Première Nation de Rama et a été cueilleur traditionnel pendant presque toute sa vie.

Joignez-vous à nous alors que Kory nous enseignera la conception générale du feu des Anishnabeg et les façons d’allumer un feu en toutes saisons. Les personnes participantes devront aller à l’extérieur pour ramasser des matériaux pour le feu et essayer différentes méthodes d’allumage.


Nous reconnaissons que le Parc Downsview est situé sur le territoire traditionnel de nombreuses nations autochtones, notamment les Mississaugas of the Credit, les Anichinabés, les Ojibwés, les Haudenosaunee et les Hurons-Wendats, où vivent aujourd’hui un grand nombre de Premières Nations, d’Inuits et de Métis. Nous reconnaissons également que la ville de Toronto est visée par le Traité 13 conclu avec les Mississaugas of the Credit.
