Join us for a captivating journey into the world of art restoration.

Master Conservator Troy J. Amuso will share insights into common environmental hazards that can damage paintings, how to prevent such harm, and the treatments he uses to return artworks to their former glory.

Prepare to be amazed!

You'll also discover the story behind the restoration of the historic portrait of Rev. David Ogden, the 4th pastor of the church (1821-1836).

Led by master conservator Troy Amuso of Troy Fine Art Services Inc., the discussion will explore the environmental factors that contribute to painting deterioration and the meticulous techniques used in fine art restoration.

Educational Program Highlights:

- The environmental effects on paintings, including humidity, smoke, and aging.

- The process of art conservation, from cleaning and varnish removal to in-painting and relining.

- A visual presentation detailing restoration techniques, including case studies featuring the restoration of Rev. David Ogden’s portrait.

- A Q&A session where guests can ask about preserving and restoring artwork.

Additional Highlights:

-The restored portrait of Rev. David Ogden will be displayed in Memorial Hall during the event.

-FCC Southington will provide refreshments, including coffee.

-The Barnes Museum will offer a complimentary cookie platter, and free museum passes for guests attending the presentation.

- The Barnes Museum will offer special tours for attendees before or after the event (full tour or first floor only).

- The Barnes Museum will also have a display table featuring select artifacts and may bring a painting from their collection for attendees to view.

-This engaging event is made possible through Troy Fine Art Services Inc., in partnership with FCC Southington and The Barnes Museum.
